Available Classroom Volunteer Opportunities

Below is a list of all open classroom volunteer opportunities. Please click the "Apply to this Position" link to request a specific classroom. If you would like to get involved with JA, but have no preference of classroom, or would like to volunteer outside of the classroom, please contact the JA of Montana officer here.

Sara Filipowicz

This third grade program will be once a week for 45 minutes per week, teaching students about the roles of people and businesses in a city.  Mrs. Filipowicz would like to begin the week of October 22, if possible.  Click here to see a summary of the third grade lessons.

Nikki Wiers

Mrs. Wiers would like a volunteer for her classroom that is comfortable with active children. Junior Achievement’s fifth-grade program provides practical information about businesses’ need for individuals who can meet the demands of the job market, including high-growth, high-demand jobs. Students will learn that businesses need workers with skills that are in demand. Please click here to see an overview of the program.

Barbara Holzman

Mrs. Holzman would like to start in March.  This 1st grade program will be for 5 weeks for 45 minutes per session. JA volunteers use a combination of pictures, stickers, and flashcards to engage students in activities about needs and wants, jobs, tools and skills, and interdependence while exploring their role within their family.  Click here to see a summary of Our Families, the 1st grade material

Sara Doshier

Mrs. Doshier would like to start after spring break. JA classroom volunteers help students build a city! The students construct paper buildings, map out a city, write newspaper articles, plan their own restaurants, and examine why banks are important.. Diane Garrott

Our Community® explores the interdependent roles of workers in a community, the work they perform, and how communities work. Five required, volunteer-led sessions. Recommended for second grade.

Mrs. Garrott would like to start at the beginning of May 2013.

Susan Daly

This experienced teacher integrates the JA It's My Business lessons into her World of Work class where students make and sell products. The lessons emphasize  entrepreneurship while providing a strong focus on social studies, reading, and writing skills. Students are encouraged to use critical thinking to learn entrepreneurial skills that support positive attitudes as they explore and enhance their career aspirations. Six volunteer-led activities are required, once a week from 9:21-10:08 am or 12:30-1:20pm
