SW Montana Teachers & Volunteers
Formed by the Bozeman Area
Chamber of Commerce in 1994 as a community partnership to develop
the next generation, JA of Gallatin County provided economic
education programs in the Bozeman area.
JA has coordinated the local business community and
volunteers to deliver economic education and fundamental theory of
free enterprise to over 14,000 Southwest Montana students to date.
After an initial pilot of four classrooms,
JA of Gallatin County grew to forty classrooms and into Park
County, becoming JA of Southwest Montana. This past year we have grown to serve over 90 classrooms in
Bozeman, Belgrade, Livingston and the surrounding rural schools.
As part of our commitment to continued growth in Southwest Montana
communities, JA of Montana has developed a Bozeman District
Committee, with representatives from Bozeman, Belgrade, Livingston
and the surrounding rural communities.
This committee supports Southwest Montana programming,
plans growth, recruits and trains volunteers, provides outreach
and raises funds to sustain local operations.
This year our goal is 95 Southwest Montana
programs. We provide
in-school programs to elementary and middle grades in Bozeman,
Belgrade and the surrounding rural schools. JA provides after school programs at the Belgrade Public
Library, in coordination with local credit unions.
In Livingston we provide programs through the LINKs for
Learning after school and summer school programs.
At Bozeman High School JA provides the lunchtime Career
Seminars and spring Job Shadows, as well as supporting financial
literacy classes. This
year we will add programming in the new Hyalite Elementary School
in Bozeman, while exploring other opportunities for growth in
Bozeman, Belgrade, Livingston and the surrounding rural schools.
Join us by becoming a classroom volunteer,
local committee member, or investor, helping us build a
sustainable program to inspire
and prepare our young people to succeed in a global economy.
Your involvement will make a difference to the next
generation. We invite
you to take up the challenge.
