Program
The Junior Achievement of Southwest Montana 2008 Young Entrepreneur of the Year award recognizes a young person with entrepreneurial spirit who has successfully applied business knowledge. The winner will be awarded a $1000 scholarship sponsored by Sterling Savings Bank. The young entrepreneur will be selected by JA's Young Entrepreneur Award committee without regard to race, color, creed, gender, religion, disability or national origin.

Eligibility

• Must exemplify achievement, leadership, and career potential
• Must be 22 years old or younger at time of receiving the award
• Must have started the business at age 18 years, or younger
• The business must still be in operation at time of receiving the award (can be a seasonal business)
• Must be a resident of Southwest Montana (including Gallatin, Park, Sweet Grass, Wheatland, Meagher, Broadwater, Madison and Jefferson counties.)
• Candidates must be nominated no later than March 7, 2008

Application Procedure
The candidates may be nominated by a community member or nominate themselves. The committee will schedule a telephone interview with the candidates during the week of March 10 to 14 to gather further information to make their decision. The candidates will be evaluated using their responses to following questions:

• What is the name of the business?
• When did you start your business, how old were you, and is it still in operation?
• What needs does your business meet?
• What strengths does your business have?
• What advice would you share with other young entrepreneurs?
• What do you think is the number one thing you have gained from starting your business?
• Did you have any mentors, teachers, and/or role models who helped you to succeed?
• Have you been involved in any JA programs or other entrepreneurial programs?
• Where do you see your business going from here?

Deadline
Candidates must be nominated no later than March 7, 2008.
